Selected non-staple food prices –21st week of 2014

Egg price rises significantly while vegetable prices drop

 

According to MOA's Agri-product Wholesale Market Information Network, the Nationwide Agri-product Wholesale Price Index for the 21st week of 2014 (May 19-25, 2014) is 202.66 (year 2000=100), decreasing by 0.29 points over a week ago. The Nationwide Non-staple Food Wholesale Price Index is 204.13, down by 0.40 points over a week ago. The trade volume of 60 items in 50 wholesale markets under intensive monitoring is 673,700 tons, decreasing by 0.2% compared to the previous week.

Note:

1. The price was the same as a year ago.

2. The price rose for 12 consecutive weeks and increased by 29.9% year-on-year due to the decreasing inventory of layers. According to MOA's monitoring network, farmed layer population and eggs decreased by 11.8% and 10.1% year-on-year respectively in the first four months.

  3. Being equal to that of the previous week.

    4. The total trade volume in 50 major wholesale markets under intensive monitoring of MOA. 

    5. Out of the 28 items of vegetables under intensive monitoring, the prices of 23 items fell, the prices of 5 items rose.

    6. The average price of 28 items of vegetables dropped for 15 consecutive weeks and increased by 4.1% year-on-year.
